August 9, 2008 - CST Seminar - Berkshire, England
We’re pleased to announce that RMAX Faculty Coach Ryan Murdock will be in Berkshire, England for a one-day CST event on August 9, 2008.
Participants will be guided through an exploration of several core CST programs, with a focus on how to apply CST to martial art performance enhancement:
-
Intu-Flow – CST’s flagship joint mobility and joint health program - the Circular Strength Training (CST) flagship that teaches you how to recover and refine the full range of motion of all of your joints, improve muscular coordination, and increase joint strength. Your ability to deliver blows and to apply your techniques begins and ends with range of motion, and this session will show you why. Each participant will also come away from this module with a clear assessment of their own major performance impediments, and how to address them.
-
Prasara Body-Flow Biomechanical Exercises – Excess tension hemorrhages performance. Body-Flow exercises help rid the body of excess tension by re-educating efficient movement patterns and reintegrating Breathing, Movement and Alignment. Putting these exercises together into Kinetic Chains allows you to train to access Flow state at will. Learn how and when to incorporate biomechanical exercises into your personal practice, how to apply them to address movement impediments, and how to use them to enhance performance on the spot in your martial art.
-
Metabolic Conditioning Circuits, the cutting edge in MMA conditioning. You’ll learn the purpose and methodology behind metabolic conditioning circuits (Metcon), as well as state of the art techniques to speed your recovery between rounds by lowering heart rate and respiration. But it isn’t enough to just learn about it. You’ll also be put through a full metcon workout to experience what RMAX is doing with professional fighters right now.
If you’re curious about how to use CST to enhance specific aspects of your performance, you will find this material incredibly useful.

January 24th, 2007 - NEW RELEASE: RMAX Powered Bujinkan Volume 2 - Specific Physical Preparedness
RMAX.tv Productions is pleased to announce the release of the second in Coach Murdock's three volume DVD series. The series applies RMAX performance enhancement technologies to the renovation of traditional Japanese martial art training, with specific examples drawn from the Bujinkan arts of Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi. The series also serves as an example to RMAX enthusiasts of how to create a complete THP program for traditional martial arts, as well as how to integrate the CST and martial sides of the RMAX canon.
The DVD breaks down into four sections:
The first large block builds on the movements presented in Volume 1. It takes the GPP base built with the earlier work and sophisticates it through several variations of: screwing-arm press ups, spinal rocks, quad hops and footwork drills. Each of those blocks also includes specific compensatory movements that'll help athletes to 'clean the slate' at the end of each training session.
The second block presents partner drills that blurs the line between SPP and the martial material to be presented in Volume 3. Clear examples are given of how to transition between solo SPP drills to fluid SPP drills that apply friction through the aid of a training partner.
The third block presents several new Prasara Body-Flow kinetic chains that Coach Murdock crafted specifically to target common movement hitches and areas of difficulty encountered by Budo Taijutsu practitioners.
Finally, the last block - for advanced Clubbell® swingers only! - presents a taste of how Clubbells can be used to RMAX Power traditional martial arts. For those who have built a solid Clubbell® base, new combination routines are presented that address four specific goals: a safety valve for joint locks (Auntie Lock), striking speed (Sudden Impact), striking power (Deep Impact), and throwing power (Flight Lessons).
See the Products page for details.
December 1st, 2006 - Ryan Murdock Profiled in Your Magazine
Ryan is the subject of an extensive profile in the December issue of Your Magazine.

August 11th, 2006 - A Bit of Personal News
On a personal note, Ryan was very pleased to have had the opportunity this summer to meet with Steve Kilbey, poet/lyricist/painter/bassist and lead singer of the rock band The Church. They had a chance to chat after an incredible sold-out concert in Sellersville, Pennsylvania.

Kilbey's work has had a formative influence on Ryan's writing and on how he sees the world. The music of The Church accompanies him on all of his travels and provides the soundtrack to the writing inside his head. Of the meeting, Ryan said: "It was tremendously satisfying to talk with someone who has had such an important influence on my work and on my vision. Most of the writers that I admire are long dead. Steve is just about the only high profile person who I would like to sit down with for a long conversation. Twenty minutes after such an intense show just scratched the surface! I certainly hope that our paths will cross again."
July 8th, 2006 - Ryan Murdock to Lead Outpost Magazine NWT Expedition 2006
Outpost 2006 Expedition to Northwest Territories
Trekking the Canol Trail, NWT
The 355-km long Canol Heritage Trail is one of the most remote long-distance hiking trails in the world. It sits on the remains of the Canol Road, built during WWII to support an oil pipeline. The project was carried out at the same time as the building of the Alaska Hwy to ensure an oil supply for Canadian and US troops in the far north. The pipeline only operated for a few years before being shut down. It remained largely forgotten until the 1960s, when increased interest in wilderness hiking led to the establishment of the Canol Heritage Trail. Completely unmaintained, the Canol Heritage Trail provides an opportunity to explore a unique and extremely remote region of the Northwest Territories, and to visit the remains of one of the most colossal wartime projects in Canadian history.
The story of the expedition will tell the tale of this incredible project, and it will paint a picture of what the land is like now. It will present the adventure angle of such remote hiking (getting in touch with the northern landscape, negotiating hazardous river crossings, traveling in grizzly country) while at the same time “discovering” the story of the Canol Road through the ruins and traces that remain on the land. Our team will interview veterans of the road building project and the native guides who helped them. They will spend approximately 22 days on the trail, from Macmillan Pass on the Yukon border to the town of Norman Wells.
The story is a timely one, given current interest in obscure WWII history prompted by recent 50th anniversary celebrations of key events in the conflict.

June 16th, 2006 - RMAX Head Coaching Staff Inducted Into International Martial Arts Hall of Fame
RMAX Founder and Head Coach Scott Sonnon wrote:
I feel absolutely honored to make this announcement on behalf of RMAX International. I've traveled around the world with these men. They've endured thousands of hours of uncompromisingly demanding training, practice and competition. And all the while they’ve endured me, perhaps worst of all.
I can honestly say without reservation and without exception that they are the finest team I have ever had the privilege of being on, and the most dedicated athletes I have ever had the honor of coaching.
Congratulations, my friends, for being inducted into:
International Martial Arts Hall of Fame
2006 Master Instructor of the Year Award:
- MASTER RYAN MURDOCK - CANADA: RMAX FLOWFIGHTING
- MASTER JOSEPH WILSON - TENNESSEE: RMAX FLOWFIGHTING
- MASTER BRANDON JONES - CALIFORNIA: RMAX FLOWFIGHTING
- MASTER DANI'L CHOMYCIA - WASHINGTON: RMAX FLOWFIGHTING
Coaching is a tremendously challenging and thankless task, one that requires emotional, mental and physical sacrifice far beyond what their athletes could ever fathom. There is no "off switch" to being a coach. It's a 24/7/365 job. You can only love it to live up to its demands.
Please join me in congratulating your Head Coaching Staff! They've earned their recognition by the world, and with it my personal gratitude and congratulations!
